About Automatic Specialties, Inc.

Automatic Specialties is a small, family-owned manufacturer specializing in wire forming, fabrication, and CNC machining. We manufacture custom and repeat-production parts using CNC wire forming equipment, fourslides, machining, welding, forming, grinding, and other fabrication processes.

We're looking for an experienced manufacturing professional to join our team as a Production Lead. This is a hands-on role responsible for setting up and running production equipment while taking ownership of daily production execution across the floor.

The right person will become an expert on our equipment and processes and lead the team through daily production execution. As the role grows, there is opportunity to take on broader responsibility for production supervision, planning, staffing, and performance.

What You'll Do

  • Start up equipment, review production priorities, and make sure jobs are ready for operators to run.

  • Get the floor started each day, address startup issues, and make sure operators have the material, tooling, equipment, and information they need.

  • Set up and run your own production work across CNC equipment, presses, punches, grinders, resistance welders, wire-forming equipment, and other fabrication machinery.

  • Respond when a job or operator gets blocked. Troubleshoot equipment, setups, tooling, and process issues, or escalate needs for material, maintenance, or technical support.

  • Review progress, communicate issues or needs, and make sure the floor is prepared to start effectively the following day.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of hands-on manufacturing, machining, or metal fabrication experience.

  • Experience independently setting up and operating manufacturing equipment.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and practical troubleshooting ability.

  • Comfortable working across different types of manufacturing equipment and learning new processes.

  • Ability to read manufacturing drawings and use common measuring equipment.

  • Experience identifying and correcting production, setup, or quality problems.

  • Able to recognize when production is getting off track and take action to get it moving again.

  • Comfortable providing day-to-day direction on the production floor and being the first point of support when operators encounter problems.

  • Able to work independently, prioritize competing needs, and escalate issues when additional resources are required.

  • Takes ownership of both their own work and the overall output of the production floor.

 

Experience with CNC machining, metal fabrication, wire forming, stamping, welding, sheet metal, screw machines, or similar manufacturing environments is valuable. We don't expect anyone to already know every machine or process we use.

Previous formal leadership experience is helpful but not required. An experienced setup technician, machinist, fabricator, or lead operator who is ready to take greater ownership of daily production could be a strong fit.

Schedule & Benefits

Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 6:30 AM–5:00 PM


Pay: $28–32/hour, depending on manufacturing, setup, and leadership experience


Overtime: Occasional Friday overtime may be available based on production needs.
